Where to find the best vegan food in Vancouver
heirloom
Vancouver has a vibrant and thriving vegan food scene, so much so that it’s almost hard to pick a favorite. If you’re looking for the best vegan brunch in town, look no further than Heirloom. The vegan (tofu) poached eggs with hollandaise sauce are a popular choice, but it’s the French toast that really steals the show.

acorn
If there’s any place on earth to convert meat eaters to veganism, The Acorn is it. A perennial favorite among Vancouver vegans, The Acorn has a seasonal menu full of flavorful dishes you’ll want to sample and take home with you in your doggy bag for leftovers.

east is east
A friend of mine who is also a vegan recommended I go to Yeast is Yeast and even wrote down on a piece of paper exactly what I should order (thank you, Sisley!) Although it’s a western approach to Indian food, Yeast is Yeast packs a punch of flavor that almost made me fall out of the restaurant after dessert. My favorite dish was the creamy mushroom and eggplant curry. I promise I won’t disappoint.

grass
Imagine a world where you could work out and enjoy delicious vegan food right after, all in one place. Well, TurF is the place to do just that. This neighborhood favorite is bustling with people all day long, but you’ll know how delicious it is as soon as you take a bite.

Tacofino
Since its humble beginnings as a food truck on Vancouver Island, Tacofino has definitely made a name for itself across the city. Currently open in several locations and food trucks around the city, Tacofino is a great option when dining with non-vegan friends. The vegan burrito is $10 and I think it’s the best vegan in Vancouver when it comes to Mexican food.

As one of the most popular joints of all, vancouverI can’t tell you how many times I’ve been recommended Birds and the Beats in Gastown. It’s the perfect place to spend the day relaxing with your laptop in hand. We have a wide selection of fresh seasonal rice bowls.

be fresh
With the tagline ‘Sustainable, Locally Produced and Seasonal’, I knew Be Fresh would be a great stop for coffee and cake before I even walked in. There was no cake, but there was an abundance of vegan pastries, cookies and banana bread!

meet
When I arrived in Vancouver, my Instagram inbox was full of recommendations, but this was the one that showed up the most. There are several around town, but the one I decided to go to was the one in Gastown. And it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the prices are fair as is the great vegan food.

If falafel, hummus, and tabbouleh sound delicious, look no further than Nuba. With several restaurants around the city, you can’t go wrong. And with the added bonus of vegan baklava to round out your dinner, it’s as close to a perfect night out as you can get.
