Dubai is a Muslim country as it is part of the United Arab Emirates. When in town, dress modestly to show respect, such as knee-length pants or skirts and shirts that cover your shoulders. If you’re going to the dunes, it’s okay to wear more summer clothes (it’s hot outside!). Of course, you can wear a bikini at the resort beach or pool.

If you are visiting Dubai during Ramadan, it is very important to respect the same rules that Muslims follow. This means that eating, drinking, and smoking are prohibited from sunrise to sunset every day during Ramadan.
Alcohol precautions
Although alcohol is legal in the UAE, it is important not to drink in public places or make a scene after leaving a bar. Only licensed establishments can serve alcohol, but all major hotels do.

You don’t have to be rich to visit
A common misconception about Dubai concerns the extreme wealth of a few individuals. It’s important to know that despite the fancy cars and 7-star hotels, you can visit Dubai on a budget. Dubai is made up of 85% expats working in similar industries to their home countries, making it possible to visit on any budget.
The weekend is Friday and Saturday
Unlike in the Western world, weekends in Dubai take place on Fridays and Saturdays. This means the best nights for socializing are Thursday nights and Friday nights. On weekends, malls are open until late and you can expect to see a rush of shoppers until midnight.
This is an incredibly safe country.
The crime rate in this city is negligible and there is almost no street crime in Dubai. It is a very safe destination in the region and perfect for solo travelers.
