Often I find myself in cities and towns. Cusalzburg is one of Austria’s most attractive cities It relies mostly on tourism because of its old world charm, its grand architecture, its connection to the sound of music, and its birthplace of Wolfgang Mozart, the world’s most prolific composer.
With such an introduction, it is also surprising that this charming little city is captivating the majority of its visitors. Without further ado, here is how Salzburg stole my heart…

It doesn’t take more than a day to fall in love with Salzburg. The best place to start is also one of the world’s most famous musical film settings. The sound of music. Inside Mirabellgardensvisitors can marvel on the fresh green grass, stunning with an array of colorful flowers.
From there, walked one of the many pedestrian bridges for 15 minutes, Old Town in Salzburg – An area registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, both attractive and hypnotizing.
Here in the old town, check out the following selection of city highlights: Salzburg Dom Cathedral; Hohensalzburg Fortress; Monastery of St. Peter; Mozart’s birthplace Above grainAnd while you’re there, you’ll walk around many shops.

One day is enough to explore the walkable city of Salzburg, but we recommend planning more time to enjoy one of your day trips from the city. I would have loved to travel Eagle’s Nest Visit a nearby lakeside town on a day trip from Salzburg Holstadt (Also listed are UNESCO World Heritage Sites); I was able to take a day tour from Salzburg to visit the sights and sounds of the Sound Tour.
The tour lasted four hours, visiting all the filming locations in the city before finishing in the town of Lakeside, just outside Salzburg. Mondsey.

Back in the old town, there’s still a lot to do beyond the major tourist attractions you can cover in a day. The city is so charming that it’s very easy to spend a few days here, sipping Aperol sproutz in the summer. Mulled wine In winter.
If you happen to be looking for a real winter Christmas experience during the winter, you are in luck. The city is revived for the world-famous celebration season Christkindlmarkt And surprisingly good winter (I was skeptical at first, but was surprised by one of the best performances I’ve seen this year).
Go here: Within Austria, Salzburg is well connected to Vienna by car and railway. Within Europe, Salzburg is easily accessible from Munich and Zurich, especially by train. If you find yourself in nearby Sesky Krumlov (2.5 hours south of Prague), the CK Shuttle offers a door-to-door shuttle service to Salzburg. If you are flying from outside of Europe, you may think it would be beneficial to fly internationally to Munich and take a train to Salzburg.
Stay: Wow is only 4 stars Hotel Villa Carltonnext to Mirabellgardens. Staying on this side of the Salsach River is a great way to save a few dollars, and the old town is a 15 minute walk away.
eat: For Austrian cuisine with a modern twist, consider its popularity Blue goose (Blue Goose) in the old town.
