Heading further east in Europe always leads to more spontaneous adventures. And that’s certainly something I found when traveling before Budapest In the Romanian city of Blasov. In Romania we had a week to explore nearby gorgeous towns and castles, but soon discovered that in Romania there is much more to look at than the first eye-catching! If you find yourself in this gorgeous country with incredible scenery and history, here is the place you absolutely need to visit in Romania!
Places to visit in Romania
1. Pere Castle
Let’s start with my old favorites from the Carpathians: Pere Castle. This is generally called the most beautiful castle in Europe, and if you look at this photo you will always see why. The romantic castle ended in the early 20th century and remains one of Romania’s top attractions (you probably understand why!)
2. Blasov
Surrounded by Carpathian mountains, Blasov is the perfect place to base himself on exploring the Transylvanian region of Romania. This area is where you can find many beautiful castles to explore the legend of Dracula and many beautiful castles.
3. Sibiu
Another picturesque city in Transylvania is Sibiu on the Sibin River. The city is as clean as a postcard and is a great option for bases to explore the area. Don’t miss the view from the clock tower! When you’re visiting a city or town that is as beautiful as this, you might consider a photo tour with a local provider. Romania Photo Tour For photography enthusiasts, we offer guided tours across the nation and in popular cities. Whether you’re interested in culturally themed photo tours, wildlife, landscape tours, or anything else, there’s something for every interest.

4. Romania Athenaeum
Located in Bucharest, Romania’s capital, Romania’s Athenaeum is an impressive concert hall both inside and outside. If you find yourself in Bucharest for a few days, consider watching the concert for a complete experience.

5. Dracula’s Castle
This is probably the only reason I came to Romania in the first place (Okay, I won’t lie, that’s it teeth Why I came! ) The legend of Dracula centers around a 15th century prince named Vlad Dracul III, known for stabbing enemies. The castle is now known as Blanc Castle and is personally owned, but you can visit the castle to visit it. It’s worth it!
6. Cluj-napoca
Another beautiful Romanian city in the northwest region is Cruzi Napoca, informally considered the capital of Transylvania. This city is much larger than the aforementioned cities in the area with a very happening social scene, so if you want to go out with more nightlife, it’s the perfect place to base yourself on.

7. Transfer gun
If you happen to be renting a car and driving around Romania, one of the most impressive paths to discover is the transfer path, also known as Ceautescu’s stupidity. This section of the road passes through the Carpathians with dramatic views and even more dramatic road routes!
8. The Palace of Culture
If you find yourself at IASI, check out the city and home of various exhibitions all year round and the Palace of Culture.
