Even if you haven’t been lucky enough to visit the Algarve region on Portugal’s southern coast, you’ve at least seen photos of its breathtaking landscapes. With its golden beaches, dramatic cliffs and consistent sunshine, the Algarve was the perfect destination for the second part of the WOW team’s first trip to Portugal, which took place a few weeks ago. The soundtrack for our trip to the Algarve was a mix of “oohs,” “aahs,” and “so beautiful.” So what’s all the fuss about? Here, we take a look at why the Algarve is rightly touted as one of Portugal’s most prized holiday destinations, and why we fell in love with this stunning region at first sight.
beach
The Algarve has some of the best beaches in Europe, with over 200km of golden sand to choose from. There’s a beach for everyone here, from long stretches of sand to small, secluded coves sheltered by towering cliffs.
climate
With an average of 3,000 hours of sunshine and 300 days of sunshine per year, the Algarve is one of Europe’s sunniest destinations. We visited in early October, when the weather was officially transitioning into cooler autumn temperatures in much of Europe, but we still had days with steady sunshine in the mid-20s. The Algarve’s climate makes it a popular destination for people who, like us, can’t believe summer is over.

sunrise
What could be more magical than running to the beach and watching the sunrise before the rest of the world wakes up? Located at the southwestern tip of mainland Europe, the Algarve is the perfect place to watch the sunrise. Just noticing that the sky was singing a beautiful song of bright pinks and purples was enough to rouse the WOW team from their fluffy beds in the villa. Villa Vita Parc.
dramatic scenery
The Algarve coastline is truly dramatic. Rugged, golden cliffs stretch for miles along the Atlantic Ocean, rising precipitously from the beautiful beaches below. The best way to explore the coastline is to rent a car and leave in the afternoon. One of our favorite places with the most spectacular views was Kamilo Beachjust outside of Lagos. The coastline here was really similar. twelve apostles In Australia!
Research and development
The main reason for visiting coastal destinations is to escape from the daily hustle and bustle, relax and unwind. And that’s exactly what our girls trip to the Algarve was all about. Stay in a luxury private villa at a world-famous hotel Villa Vita Parc It has certainly become much easier! We spent the day relaxing in the sun, exploring hidden coves, swimming, and eating. This is the perfect recipe for the holidays.

sunset
The Algarve, especially Cape San Vincente, is the most southwestern point of Europe. Believed to be the “end of the world” by early Portuguese explorers, this spot is home to one of the most impressive sunsets in the world. Even the Romans believed that this spot was a magical place where the sunsets were much more vivid than anywhere else in the world. Even if you don’t go to Cape San Vincente, there are some pretty spectacular vantage points anywhere along the coast.
