Located within Yomiuriland, it comes as the country is recording strong tourist numbers. The site has an area of 26,000 square meters and is divided into two areas.
One is a forest path where visitors walk past more than 600 life-sized Pokémon placed among hills, grass, and rocks. The other focuses on rides, shops and food, with carousel games, stage shows and exclusive merchandise.
Pokémon attractions have appeared in the past, but all were temporary, including Pokémon the Park in Nagoya, which ran from March to September 2005 and was later recreated in Taiwan, and Pokémon Island Adventure, which opened at Warner Bros. Movie World in Australia in 1999.
Reflecting high demand, early tickets are no longer sold by lottery. Although reviews highlight the warm and immersive atmosphere, some visitors say they see no reason to return. The park targets Pokemon fans ages 5 and up, from families and Gen Z players to nostalgic Millennials and die-hard Kanto fans.
