Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen met with Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen on Friday during a visit to Greenland.
Mr. Frederiksen flew from Brussels to Nuuk, where he attended the European Union Summit and met with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.
When Frederiksen landed at Nuuk Airport, he was greeted and hugged by Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen.
Nielsen said Rutte conveyed the message that Greenland is willing to go the extra mile and accept NATO missions.
President Trump, who has repeatedly said the United States needs Greenland to counter threats from Russia and China, on Wednesday abruptly withdrew tariffs he had threatened to impose on eight European countries to seek American control over Greenland.
