Glasgow-born artist Nnenna Kalou has become the first person with a learning disability to win the Turner Prize, one of the international art world’s most coveted and prestigious awards.

She is known for her extremely colorful sculptures and paintings, which were described by jury chair and Tate Britain director Alex Farquharson as “bold, compelling and of beautiful complexity”.

In recent years, Mr. Kall, who is 59 and has limited verbal communication, has built a worldwide reputation for his works, many of which feature suspended cocoon-like shapes covered in recycled and repurposed materials such as parcel tape, cling film, fabric and rope.
