1. Old Town (Old Town)

Stockholm’s old town dates back to the 1200th century and is packed with many quaint cafes, bars, restaurants, trinket shops and endless cobblestone alleys. For new visitors to Stockholm city, Gamla Stan is the perfect starting point to feel the city and its history. In many ways, the Old Town is an open-air museum in itself. If you have time to explore deeper, make sure to stop inside Stockholm Cathedral and Royal Palace – Both provide clear insight into various aspects of Swedish history and culture.

2. VASA Museum

The Vasa Museum is home to an incredible Vasa ship aimed at the pride and joy of the Swedish Imperial Fleet, but in 1961 a vast operation began to recover the remains within the Vasa Museum, just as it sank into its first voyage in 1628. With over 1 million visitors to VASA per year, this is Sweden’s most visited museum.

3. Royal Palace

While you are in Gamla Stan, head to the Royal Palace, once the official residence of the King of Sweden. Today, the royals live elsewhere on the outer island protected by UNESCO World Heritage Sites, but a visit to the official royal palace is still a must.

As the world’s first outdoor museum, Skansen is a favorite for visitors to Stockholm city. There are over 150 different buildings to explore, and there is also a wide range of Swedish cuisine!

Another world, the Fotografskia Museum is a mouthful for English speakers, but is located in the east banquet of the eyes. This exhibition is one of the most famous photo exhibitions in the world and is certainly worth a visit for photography enthusiasts.

Opened only in May 2013, the ABBA Museum has (under no doubt) become one of the city’s main attractions. For any crazy fan, this is a dream come true. The museum also has a powerful interactive theme, and even has the opportunity to talk to ABBA members if the phone rings!
