Top 10 must visit cities in South America

Must read

Rio

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

This huge seaside city is best known for its “Imageous Christ the Ladymer Statue, Copacabana Beach, Ipanema Beach, Sugarloaf Mountain, Faberus and the iconic Carnival Festival.” You will find colours and confusion every turn – this should visit a city that is very lively, chaotic, in some way, khaoti, beautiful, crazy. A visit to South America will not be completed without a few nights in Rio! As such, it is also one of the most expensive cities to stay on the continent. The hotels aren’t cheap and the standards aren’t that high, but seeing and experiencing Rio for yourself is worth the sacrifice.

Lapas

La Paz, Bolivia

La Paz will turn his head as soon as he lands. It’s not just about the altitude (360m above sea level). The city is an absolute mess, and you can see, hear, witness and see each turn. Trust me if you say you are seeing opportunities for some serious people.

Cusco, Peru

Located in Peru’s Andes, the charming Cusco, also known as the gateway to Machu Picchu. Spanish colonial architecture and cobblestone pathways certainly make Cusco happy. It also features a great food scene (Peruvians love potatoes – I hope you do too) and plenty of charming hotels around town.

Ecuador, Quito

The Ecuadorian capital flies slightly under the radar for cities dating back 500 years. In fact, the entire country tends to be overlooked to some extent in favor of its more popular neighbours. But don’t be fooled. Especially with Spanish colonial architecture and ah, and so many churches, Quito has a lot to offer to visitors.

Four Seasons Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires is closer to Europe than it is, even if it is not in Europe itself. There are plenty of guarantees here for at least 2-3 nights in the city. Don’t miss these There are 9 things to do in Buenos Aires!

Sao Paulo, Brazil

Let the numbers speak for yourself. It is the 12th largest city in the world and the most populous city in Brazil. AKA this place is huge. If you want a city skyline that doesn’t seem to end, it’s here.

Cartagena, Colombia

If you need time warp, it’s here. Cartagena is located on the Caribbean coast of Colombia and features 16th century squares, colorful buildings and beach attitudes towards life. If you want to go to a place where there are no foreign crowds, this is one of your best bets. As it is a popular beachside destination for Colombians all year round, you will certainly meet many locals here (with a tropical climate).

Salvador, Brazil

Mostly known for its Portuguese architecture (pictured above), Salvador, Bahia, is one of Brazil’s huge yet QUANT and charming coastal cities. If you’re planning to explore more beyond hot spots and explore even more into one country, Brazil might be a ticket to a fun time!

Valparaiso, Chile

If there was one thing wrong with visiting Chile last year, I would have spent too much time in Santiago and spent plenty of time (or no time) in nearby Valparaiso on the Chilean coast. This is literally a city that looks like it’s painted on a canvas. The photo above says it all!
