I didn’t expect to fall in love with Scandinavia, especially in the form of the capital. But Stockholm has a way to catch your mind. Old World charm and pastel buildings bring a new unique mix of old encounters. Therefore, if you are visiting Stockholm for the first time, here is everything you absolutely need to see! Dive into the complete Stockholm bucket list.

Stockholm bucket list
1. Walking around Gamla Stan
Locals see it as “tourism,” but there is no denying that this is the most picturesque part of town. Gamlastan is like stepping into a children’s fairy tale book with a pastel-colored shop front and a charming little gateway. There is also a beautiful little cafe that passes the time, especially considering Swedish Excel in the cake + pastry offerings!
2. Check out the VASA Museum
If you are only visiting indoors during your time in Stockholm, you should go to the Vasa Museum. This maritime museum features an impressive collection, with an entire 17th century ship that has been rescued and restored.
3. Walk through the open air museum in Skansen
Another museum worthy of yours could not have been any more different if it had been tried – the open-air museum in Skansen is a zoo and home to a variety of animals (perfect for kids!).

4. Pack djurgården picnic
As an island with Skansen’s outdoor museums, visitors to Stockholm often visit strict schedules and don’t spend time enjoying their surroundings (not a journey, not a destination!).
5. Take a walk along the edge of the water
One thing I really like about Stockholm is that I’m sure you’ll be sure too. It means that it is a city completely surrounded by water. Whether you’re walking from point to point or just walking to walk, just walk past the edge of the water whenever possible. This is free to enjoy as you will definitely enjoy the best views of the city.
6. See the Photo Museum
The great walking route I found in town was from my hotel through Gamla Stan to the Photografsky Museum. This is a photography museum (as the name suggests) and at the end it has an amazing gift shop for photography enthusiasts and enthusiasts.

7. Eat cinnamon rolls for breakfast
It’s no secret that Stockholm is full of great restaurants, but most of them cost a day or sometimes a week to eat! Instead, head straight to the first bakery you see and indulge in cinnamon rolls – does the boy know how to make those things in Stockholm!
8. Singing how to pass through the ABBA Museum
Yes, I’m 100% serious. I visited Stockholm with my doting mother. Before our trip, he declared that the only thing she wanted to do in Stockholm was to visit the Ava Museum. To my surprise, I (really) enjoyed the museum so I would completely recommend it to anyone who has heard at least some hit tracks.
9. Walk through the hall of Drotham Palace
If there’s something certainty in Stockholm, it means it’s hard to ignore the giant Drottingham Palace, no matter what route you roam around the city. While the outside guards are worth a visit by themselves (can you miss the opportunity to see a man in uniform!?), the interior of the palace is just as exciting if you’re interested in royal history.

10. Indulge in gastronomic events
As mentioned before, Stockholm has some great restaurants. If you can go past the price list and follow your path, you will be able to enjoy one of the best meals of your life! The Stockholm cooking scene is one of the best scenes in the world and I personally recommend it (very – super, very highly) Gastrologik.
11. Walk through Golden Hall
City Hall may not look like an exciting place from the outside, but inside, there is this hidden beauty (a room made of gold) with over 18 million tiles to be precise!
12. Check out the Nobel Museum
Another big indoor activity in Stockholm is visiting the Nobel Museum, which has a stack of information and inspiration surrounding the Nobel Prize and its winner.

13. Discover the subway
As far as metro is concerned, Stockholm has a rather interesting metro station in the heart of the city.
14. Sip your latte with drop coffee
There’s not much you can say you’ve had coffee at the third best coffee shop in the world! Take the opportunity with drop coffee and see what all the fuss is.
15. Get Swedish Hot Dogs from Street Vendors
As far as street food goes, Stockholmer has surprisingly good products in the form of hot dogs. If you’re an old and loyal person sucker, then this is a great cheap diet alternative for the city that quickly drains your pockets!

16. Walk along the bridge to Sodermalm
As Stockholm is a city surrounded by water, it’s no surprise that there are many bridges that connect the cities! Be sure to walk to Sodermalm. If possible, welcome the sunset with one of many perspectives. They should die!
17. Take a boat at sunset
One thing you should never miss before leaving town is to ride a boat around town, especially at sunset.
