Stay in Merion Dublin

Must read

Dublin is one of my favourite cities in Europe and for some reason it flies under the radar of Europe’s major tourist circuits. The city is packed with musicians from every corner, bar and pub, and an active crowd of locals and visitors who mix in the city streets. This is my second check-in Merion Dublin And it quickly became one of my favorite hotels in Ireland, so I thought it was time to share the magic of Merion with you!

If the photo conveys a thousand words, it should not be difficult to see how fun and beautiful this hotel is. It feels like I’m staying at a friend’s long lost family! The restored Georgia townhouse has recently been restored to include an oversized spa and an indoor swimming pool.

I’ll check in at Merion

I first stayed at Merion on a short night through Dublin a few years ago. Just one night in town, I also wanted to stay in the heart of a homely, typical Irish feel. Merion was the perfect choice.

On this visit to Dublin, I stayed in Merion twice for 4 days and 3 nights in the city. Since my first visit, the charm has lived and I don’t want to stay elsewhere in Dublin. However, there have been many changes due to recent renovations to make this hotel the most luxurious in the city.

Inside my suite

I arrived at Merion after a tough four-hour drive in sporadic rain from the West Coast. I was staying in something I’d never forget Ashford Castle. The rain was cleared and my feet wanted to sit, so we dropped off our rental car around town and walked 30 minutes to arrive at our hotel.

Each room at Merion is individually decorated, but what surprised me was the size of the room. Not only is the ceiling high, but the room also has large, large floor-to-ceiling windows. In the summer, the sun stays until 10pm so trust me if you say you have plenty of time to explore the city!

Explore Dublin City

After dropping my bag and making the most of the champagne that welcomed me, I began exploring Dublin on foot. The city is fun, lively and can be quite crowded in the summer, but the crowds only add to the vibrancy.

The closest attraction to Merion is St. Stephen’s Green, which can be reached on foot in about five minutes. Wandering around Dublin’s name, Central Park, head to nearby Grafton Street for a lively shopping experience.

Temple Bar is Dublin’s famous bar, pub and nightlife area. This area is also fun to explore during the day (especially if you’re not for partying early in the morning!)

Two weeks after exploring Ireland, my stay in Merion was a welcome retreat. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming and make your stay feel like you’re back home.

If you are looking to relax, we highly recommend the ESPA spa in the hotel. After a few weeks on the road, it was a welcome escape.
