Portugal has officially recognized the Palestinian province, Foreign Minister Paulo Wrangel announced Sunday in New York.

Rangel said the two states’ solution was “the only path to fair and lasting peace,” local media reported.

The Lisbon government has also reaffirmed “Israel’s right to exist” and its “effective security needs” and was carried out by Hamas-led extremists who “condemn the brutal terrorist attacks on October 7th.”

The move, which the UK, Canada and Australia (all federal countries), is similarly scheduled to open on Tuesday, comes just a few hours after doing so ahead of the UN General Assembly.

β€œWe must work together in hopes behind a peaceful future that hopes for the release of hostages, the end of violence, the end of suffering, and the shift to two state solutions to the best hope for peace and security on all sides.

Other countries are expected to join the list of recognizing Palestinian states at this week’s UN summit, including France. France and the UK are two of the five permanent members of the Security Council.

Israeli authorities have condemned the perception, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the move would further destabilize the region and burn Hamas.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gwil announced at the next Cabinet meeting that the West Bank would annex the West Bank.

“As a prize for murder terrorists, immediate action is needed for the recognition of the ‘Palestinian’ nation by the UK, Canada and Australia,” Ben Gwil said.
