This is my second visit to lake bled And, dare I say it, this won’t be the last time. Lake Bled captivates the hearts of everyone who visits it (myself included) as one of the most romantic lake towns you can visit in all of Europe. This time I’m back to discover more of Lake Bled’s biggest secrets. From the best vantage points to details that many overlook, here are the secrets to making the most of your stay on Lake Bled.

Great spot for sunset drinks
did not visit Cafe Belvedere Because when I first visited Lake Bled in 2015, Lake Bled is only open during the summer. If you have a chance to visit during the warmer months, be sure to stop by for some of the best sunset views on Bled Island.

The best viewpoints on Lake Bled
When I first visited for a bleed nearly five years ago, I remember climbing a hill and pushing through the fall foliage for a view of the lake. As it turns out, there is a well-defined path that provides just that. Little Osonica A short 45-minute hike offers some of the best views of Lake Bled. Sunsets are beautiful here, but any time of the day is just as beautiful.

The best hotel with a view
When I first visited Lake Bled in 2015, I was on a budget and stayed within walking distance of the lake and the things that happen there. If budget isn’t an issue, you won’t find a better hotel view than this one. Villa Bled. Many rooms face the lake and offer close-up panoramic views of Bled Island. If you can’t afford to stay, be sure to stop by the restaurant for dinner or Café Belvedere for the best sunset view.

Dine like a king at Bled Castle
It looks great from a distance, but nothing can match the view inside the restaurant at Lake Bled Castle. Huge impressive windows frame the lake below, offering one of the best views on Lake Bled. Prices are surprisingly reasonable considering the view (about 25 euros for a full lunch).

Enjoy bread cake
One of my favorite discoveries from my visit to Bled was the incredibly delicious Bread cake. Australia has something similar (named Vanilla Slice), and it’s not hard to see why breadcake has become a popular phenomenon. The cake features a pastry base, custard center, and creamy top. Order one to share or take the rest home (even with a sweet tooth like me, it was impossible to finish this!)

Let’s ring the bell of Bled Church
A beautiful island located in the middle of Lake Bled is home to the Bled Church. If it’s your first time visiting Bled, it’s worth a visit. The best option is to rent a rowboat. Climb the 99 steps to the top and you can ring the church bell yourself!

Arrive early at Vintgar Valley
Another must-see around Bled is the Vintgar Gorge, which can be reached in just 15 minutes from Bled. During the summer, Vintgar Valley opens at 7am. If you don’t arrive 5 minutes before park opening time, you’ll be sharing the canyon with many other visitors. Arrive just before opening time to enjoy some quiet time on your own. Admission is 10 euros and parking costs an additional 5 euros. It only takes an hour to visit.

You can visit any time of the year
Last but not least, an important note about when to visit Lake Bled. Although the lake can be visited at any time of the year, activities and activities are limited to each season. Summer is the best time to visit if you want to make the most of the lake’s activities and surroundings. This is the time of year when you can rent kayaks and paddleboards, swim in the lake, and enjoy the cafes and restaurants. In the off-season, the lake is covered with snow and is beautiful. However, many cafes and restaurants will be closed during this period. Choose your season wisely!
