Review Resort: Nihi Sumba
There are very few places in the world that stole a part of my heart NIHI I have it. I first visited three years ago and haven’t found anything easy to magic anywhere in the world. That’s what I often feel is indescribable. I have tried to explain how magical this island oasis is with friends before, but I almost always end up saying, “You have to come next time.” Some things cannot be reduced to words!
Nihi is located in Sumba Island and is a 90-minute flight from Bali, Indonesia. When I visited three years ago, there were no other hotels on the island. And when I returned this week, I can’t see any other hotels. However, it should be noted that sightseeing is slowly beginning to pick up here on Sumba Island.
Once you arrive at Tambara Airport, you will be welcomed by the long-awaited Safari Jeep. Flying through the flora and fauna of the island feels like a safari itself. By the time you arrive at the hotel, your luggage will be waiting in your room. It is these types of details that make this one of the best luxury hotels in the world. Nihi has won two years of running!
Arrived at NIHI
After a well-ventilated drive through the island, you arrive at an oasis known as NIHI on the rugged coastline of Sumba. You will meet the “guest captain” who serves welcome drinks and cold towels. Shortly after that they will take you to your room.
On this visit, I checked in at the Uber Luxe 3-Bedroom Tree House, known as “Mamall.” In addition to 3 bedrooms, there are 3 generous pools, 5 outdoor living areas, an unlimited minibar and private beach access. Will it be better than this? ?
All Inclusive Resort
One of the perks of NIHI (there are a few) is that you can arrive with just your bags and leave all the other arrangements to the team. Three meals per day are included in the room rate, as well as the waters that are unlimited minibars and numbres to and from the airport.
Only Spa Safari
If you’ve never heard of the term “spa safari” for that reason, Nihi has created it! The day begins at around 7:30am. Hike with a local guide. Local guides trek into the jungle towards a relaxing oasis where spa treatments are unlimited and you can choose to indulge in one day or half (half days are enough!)
Once you arrive at Nihi Oka you will be greeted with a refreshment. Select a list of treatments and be escorted to the cliffside for breakfast at sea.
After breakfast, a hard-working morning hike will pay off as you enjoy a few hours of spa treatment with the sounds of the ocean in the background.
Sumba Foundation
The biggest reason Nihi stole my heart is his dedication to the Sumba community and giving back to the land and its people. The Sumba Foundation was set up to help eradicate malaria, feed school children three times a week, and provide clean water to people in Sambanone. The resort also employs only locals, one of the most beautiful places on the planet, giving enormous employment to the people of Sambanese and enviable working conditions!
Not recommended NIHI When asked about my favourite hotel/resort in the world, I realized that I was constantly answering myself, enough to answer “Nihi”. It’s really kind of thing. Thank you for welcoming James and the team and for allowing us to experience Mamoll Tree House. What a dream!
