Harry Potter location in London
Australia’s High Commissioner – Gringot Bank Interior
Believe it or not, but Gringott Bank’s stunning interior certainly do not have It’s a movie set, but a real deal! What’s even more incredible is that the interior of the Australian High Commissioner’s building is so amazing that it requires little post-production, and the interior has required little work due to the enhancements of the film. Technically you cannot go inside, but if you are alone or with a partner (i.e. not a group), ask the security guard if you can reach a head peak.
While in the area, you weren’t the location where you filmed, but the hotel where Richard Harris (first Dumbledore) lived at the age of 70 and last year. If you like the look, the lobby is nice!

Red phone booth entrance to the Ministry of Magic
Before this will disappoint you, I will fly straight to the point: the entrance to the visitor’s ministry (a red telephone box) does not actually exist. Instead, it was inserted only for filming, and standing there today is nothing more than a blank wall. If you still want to stop by (who knows, maybe the muggle can’t see the phone box), you’ll find it in Scotland Place.

Westminster Station
Do you remember the order of Harry and Weasley using tubes to transport Harry Potter? These were photographed at Westminster Station, one of London’s busiest stations.

Lambeth Bridge – Night Bus
The Lambeth Bridge is located near the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben and was filmed in the evening for those memorable “night bus” scenes. In the film, traffic comes in one direction towards the camera, but in reality, traffic is carried out in two ways on the Lambeth Bridge! This was the decision to give the scene a higher intensity, allowing for a fierce moment when the night bus narrowed down between two red double class buses in London.

Millennium Bridge – Destroyed by the Death Eaters
This is a fan favorite because it is very accessible and is such an obvious part of the film. The bridge is destroyed by the Death Eater at the beginning of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. The only bridge is pedestrian bridge, so be sure to walk around. On the South Bank side, you can enjoy views of St. Paul’s Cathedral. It was also used to film scenes of Harry and other students on one of Hogwart’s winding stairs. From this perspective, we can also see the city of London schools where Daniel Radcliffe was educated before he began his role in the Harry Potter franchise.

Autonomous Region Market
Just a short walk from your current location will take you to the Autonomous Region Market. This is a great choice to take a bite as there are great fresh ingredients from around the world (and a hot spot for Londoners to visit)! Here you will notice that the locations photographed above are actually used for leaky external shots of Canlon! All the ads in the frame look a little different now, but there’s still room for imagination!

Lead hole market
Back in the city of London, there are other filming locations at Leaky Cantron in Leadenhall Market. Within the market (one of the small side arias) you can find an entrance that is currently in bright blue and home to the dental business, but the film depicts Grimm Black for better effect! The market itself is very beautiful so this place is certainly worth a visit!

Kings Cross Station
The tour ends at Kings Cross Station, Platform 9 and 3/4. This place is quite far, so if you’re not on a bus tour, catch a tube at “Kings Cross Station”. The above is a set-up scene presented to Kings Cross Station by Warner Bros. If you want to access the actual platform where these scenes were filmed, it’s actually between platforms 4 and 5. To get to these platforms you actually have to get on the train somewhere.

St. Pancras Station
The platform is taken at Kings Cross Station, but the exterior shots of the station are actually taken at St. Pancras Station, as they are much more picturesque. Look at the building here. Here it is one of the most luxurious train stations in the world.

Reptile House, London Zoo
The inside of the London Zoo is where Harry first discovers, where you can talk to Harry Potter and the philosopher’s stone snake. Of course, you can visit this exact location. This will hit kids!

Piccadilly Circus
Harry, Ron and Hermione run through London’s West End with Harry Potter and Part I of the Deathly Hallows, filmed at Piccadilly Circus. This is a popular tourist landmark in the city, so if you’re not looking for it you’ll definitely come across it throughout your trip!

Stay: ThreadNeedles Hotel
Most of the filming locations for Harry Potter in London are located in central London, far from the usual tourist haunts. We’ve found the perfect hotel to explore London for Harry Potter fans ThreadNeedles HotelLocated just off the Leadenhall Market. From here you can enjoy a comfortable walk to many, if not all of the above. We recommend staying for a few nights at this hotel in central London and this hotel is located west of London.
