Hamas said late Friday that he has accepted several elements of President Donald Trump’s “21 Point Peace Plan,” the release of all hostages in Gaza, but other elements need “full consultations.”
Approximately 50 hostages remain under the prisoners of Hamas in Gaza, of which around 20 are believed to be still alive.
The statement comes hours after Hamas said he had agreed to the deal by Sunday evening, threatening even greater military assault as the war approached the second year mark.
“We must sign a contract with Hamas by Sunday evening at 6pm (6pm) in Washington, DC Time,” writes Trump on his social media platform, Truth Social.
“Every nation has signed! If we reach this last, accidental agreement, all hell will break out against Hamas, as no one has ever seen before. There is some form of peace in the Middle East,” Trump added.
It was unclear how Washington and Israel would respond to partial acceptance. However, the plan was fully accepted, some invented in Israel and warmly welcomed by many in the international community.
The main points of the plan to end the war in Gaza were the release of hostages, armed dissolution and disbandment of Hamas, and the appointment of an interim surveillance government run by Trump and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Last week, Trump said he was given pardons to members who wish to stay in Hamas, and that Hamas members announced plans in an oval office with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for those who would be given a “safe passage” to leave to other countries.
