Despite the Alaska summit between President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Friday, five people were killed and 11 others were injured as Russia continues to slap Ukrainian cities.

The Ukrainian Air Force says the Kremlin has fired ballistic missiles and more than 60 Iranian-made Shahed and decoy drones overnight until Sunday.

Ukrainian air defense personnel say Kiev has fired or suppressed more than 40 drones into the air.

As Russia strengthened its attack in the region, five people were killed in Donetsk, in the eastern Donbas region.

Two people were killed in Russian artillery fire at Raiholodok, two others were killed in Sviatholibuka and another civilian was killed in Kostiantinibuka.

At least four people have been injured throughout the region in the past day, according to Gov. Vadym Filashkin.

The Donbass was the flash point of Russian attacks since the first invasion of Moscow in 2014, and then the first Russian war since February 2022.

Over 30 villages were targeted at Kherson as Russian forces carried out drone and artillery strikes. Regional Governor Olexandre Prokudin says two people were injured in the strike. The attack also damaged two homes and vehicles.

The other five were injured in attacks on Kalkiv, which targeted several villages with missiles, drones and guided bombs. Officials say the injured were moved to a local hospital for treatment.

Many homes have been damaged by attacks in areas such as Virshani, Purikorotne and Nova Kozacha. Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syrniehubov says that all the targets Moscow hit were essentially civilians.

The attacks put global pressure on Russia to end the invasion, entering its fourth year, and to come to the negotiation table.

Ukrainian President Voldymeierzelensky will be pleased to attend a virtual coalition meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer.

The meeting, which will be held via video link, takes place on the eve of Zelensky’s trip to Washington. On Monday, Zelenskyy will meet US counterpart Donald Trump at the White House to discuss the latest in ongoing peace efforts.

It ended with a meeting in the oval office as Ukrainian leaders’ first visit to the White House since February, and as Trump and Vice President JD Vance proceeded to berate Zelensky in front of reporters.

Zelenskyy’s visit, announced Saturday, comes days after Trump met with Putin in Alaska.

Trump says he wants to arrange a trilateral summit between himself, which will be the first in-person meeting for the Walling Leader to “finally end this war.”
