Explore Berlin’s Neighborhoods: Prenzlauer Berg

Must read

Once a working-class district, Prenzlauer Berg quickly transformed to become one of Berlin’s trendiest regions. The impact of gentrification is probably most prominent in Prenzlauer Berg, with more stroller pushing than any other district, and a younger family currently living in the neighborhood. Here you will find a hip mix of designer boutiques, organic cafes and beautiful architecture. Read the best things to eat, see and do at Prenzlauer Berg.

Anna Bloom: A long brunch at Anna Bloom, under the lush green trees, is my favorite weekend. This place is popular so get ready to wait for the table. A multi-layer breakfast filled with cheese, cold meat, fruit and jam is a specialty.

Location: Kollwitzstraße83, 10435

Price: 2 tier breakfast: 22.50 euros

Shakespeare and his son: Is there a more perfect way to enjoy a fresh, filling bagel than combined with leisurely book viewing? Shakespeare and his sons are a fun little bookstore offering amazing coffee and delicious fresh bagels. My favorite is the “all” bagels with cream cheese and red onion chutney!

Location: Raumerstraße 36, 10437 (Friedrichshain also has a second Shakespeare and son)

Price: Cream Cheese Bagel: 2.80 Euro

Lunch/Dinner

W-The Snack Bar: This funky little place is about healthy and delicious homemade Indian food. Most items on the menu are vegetarian, but they also serve the most delicious tandoori salmon in town! The heart of their fare is authentic naan bread made with their tandoors. Order a warm salad with salmon or fish tacos.

Location: Kastainienallee 49, 10119

Price: Tandoori salmon and warm salad: 13 euros

Bao Burger: Although this is a new restaurant, Bao Burgers has been famous in Berlin for a while. Operated by street food trucks in many street food markets in the city, these delicious Asian burgers quickly gained cult support. Now you can get it every day at Prenzlauer Berg’s new permanent restaurant. The original Bao burger in steamed bread with pork belly, carrots, coriander, nuts and sticky sweet sauce is my favorite. The fried sweet potatoes are also pretty amazing here too!

Location: Kollwitzstraße84, 10435

Price: Original Bao Burger: 6.70 Euro

Wok Show: Located north of Prenzlauer Berg on the border with Pankow, dining at The Wok Show is worth a trip. Many tourists haven’t made it this far, but if so, you’ll be dreaming of dumplings for the rest of your trip! This authentic Chinese restaurant specializes in dumplings and comes in only two sizes, 20 or 40 plates. A variety of fillings are possible, and you can order steamed or fried.

Location: Greifenhagener Straße31, 10437

Price: 20 fried dumplings with pork and cabbage: 7.50 euro

do you understand: Omoni has earned a considerable reputation for being labelled as one of Berlin’s best sushi restaurants. Hidden in Prenzlauer Berg north, this small spot has loyal local supporters and spare tables that are difficult to bill without a reservation. Order a sushi plate and try the freshest fish in Berlin.

Location: Copenhagener Straße14, 10437

bird: This new York-style burger joint is located at a Berlin facility. This place is packed into the rafters every night, and for good reason. Their burgers are the most famous in the city.

Chutnify: If it feels like Indian food, head to Chutnify, one of the few good Indian restaurants in the city. Our specialty here is South Indian cuisine, especially dosa. The food is spicy and authentic, and there are plenty of vegan options on the menu.

Location: Sredzkistraße43, 10435

Price: Goa pig dosa: 8.50 euro

standard: If you’re looking for authentic wooden pizza in Berlin, look no further than the standard. The pizzas here are all excellent, but one of my favorites is the taste of Brandenburg (Bianca) pizza with slices of potatoes, fiordilatte and fresh boar sausages.

Location: Templiner Straße7, 10119

Price: Brandenburg (Bianca) Pizza’s Taste: €11.50

Salt bone: The new restaurant, which just opened recently, has already won a huge amount of publicity to offer a heartfelt pub classic with an international twist. There are also excellent craft beers to complement the food.

drink:

Plater: Without a cold glass of beer from Berlin’s oldest and most famous beer garden, your visit to Berlin is not complete. This place is an institution. The lush beer garten in summer is far less than beer and brouturst!

Location: Kastanienallee 7-9, 10435

wine: The institution actually includes three different wine bars in Berlin, all of which operate under the honor system. For a price of 2 euros, you can rent a glass and sample as much wine as you like. At the end of the night, you pay as much as you think your wine is worth it. I love the reliable nature of this place. There aren’t many places like this anymore.

Location: “Fra-Rosa”, Zionskirchstraße40, ‘Perlin’ Griebenowstrasse 5, ‘Forum’, Fehrbelliner Straße57, 10119

LA Cheese Dairy Products: I love the little French cheese and the wine bar, Laqueserie. Order two cheese boards with matching wine and they will be delivered to France immediately.

position: Lychener Strasse 6, 10437

Juicy: For smoothies and juices from this neighborhood’s organic superfood, stop by Juicy, just a short distance from Maul Park. My pick is a blueberry and kale superfood smoothie with always chia seeds, Madagascar vanilla, almond milk, dates and avocados. Heaven!
