Ukraine’s emergency services announced Saturday morning that the death toll from Friday’s Russian attack on the southern port city of Odesa had risen to eight, with 27 injured.
A total of 51 drones and three Iskander-M ballistic missiles were launched across Ukraine in a nighttime Russian attack.
Officials said some of the injured in Odesa were on the bus during the attack. The truck reportedly caught fire and a car was damaged.
The head of the Odesa region, Ole Kiper, said the port was attacked by a ballistic missile.
According to a report by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, about 30 of the 51 drones were of the Shahed type, of which 31 were shot down or intercepted, and 20 attacks were recorded in 15 locations.
Ukraine strikes oil and gas production
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military on Friday used a drone strike to attack the Russian warship Okhotnik, which was patrolling near oil and gas production facilities in the Caspian Sea, the army’s General Staff announced in a cable on Saturday.
A drilling platform at the Filanovsky oil and gas field in the Caspian Sea, operated by Russian oil giant Lukoil, was struck by the impact. Ukrainian drones also targeted the radar and systems of two Russian Su-27 fighter jets at the Belbek military airfield in Crimea, which Russia illegally annexed from Ukraine in 2014.
