There are several cities around the world that I would never visit, and Zurich is certainly one of them. Storchen Zurich
Storchen is located in the heart of Zurich, just off Lake Zurich. After a recent renovation, the hotel is not only recognized as a 5-star hotel, but also one of the best facilities in the city. And because of its location by water, this is one of Zurich’s most recognized hotels.
If you’re looking for a special hotel in the heart of the city, this is it. And if you are booking a stay here, please request a riverfront room or suite. The sunrise from the window is incredible. The second image shows the soft evening glow just before sunset. This offers spectacular views from the hotel rooftop (the “nest”).
In my room
My room was on the 5th floor and the hotel’s best floor was for the rooms and suites. The room was very small but certainly everything you needed: an en suite bathroom, a small wardrobe space, a queen size bed, an office desk. However, the highlights of the room were not even within the room itself! The views from these rooms in Storchen are certainly the highlight of staying here, so book a room or suite facing the river.
Around the hotel
Apart from the enviable places facing the river, there are several other reasons to love Stouchen. The hotel features the city’s only cigar lounge that opens every night to guests around the world.
The hotel has a fitness centre on the 5th floor, with weight, a few machines and some cardio machines (treadmills and bikes). There are also fitness professionals available on demand for private 1:1 coaching.
Dining in Stouchen
During my stay, I was able to enjoy breakfast at the Breakfast Hall every time. This is the true highlight of my stay, a great way to get started every day, ready for a day’s exploration (and earn those stairs!) plus a large buffet of yogurt and museliths, cold meat and hard boiled eggs. Ah, and of course croissants!
