Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Russia launched more than 450 drones and more than 30 missiles overnight Saturday, targeting various regions across Ukraine, killing at least three people and wounding 10 others.
One person has been killed in the village of Olekseyvo Drushkivka in the eastern Donbas region, one of the most active front lines as Russia enters its fourth full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In the nearby city of Kostiantynivka, the Kremlin has hit Donbass with no fewer than 17 attacks against various settlements in the past 24 hours, with two more people killed in Russian attacks. Six people were also injured in the attack targeting Drushkivka.
The southern port city of Odesa was hit hard by two consecutive nights of attacks that targeted what authorities called civilian areas and infrastructure. At least two civilians were injured in the airstrike, Zelenskiy said.
On Saturday, Ukraine’s president announced in a post on X that many residents in several areas of the city were suffering from water and power outages. However, he said work was underway to restore connectivity.
“Currently, all necessary services are working to restore electricity and water supplies in our communities affected by the nighttime Russian attacks. Once again, the main attacks targeted our energy sector, the south of the country, the Odessa region,” Zelenskiy wrote.
President Zelenskiy said Moscow’s overnight barrage of fire had damaged more than a dozen facilities across the country.
“More than a dozen civilian facilities were damaged across the country. Thousands of homes are currently without power after overnight attacks in the Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson and Chernihiv regions. The attack also hit the Dnipro and Cherkasy regions.”
Ukrainian leaders also blamed Moscow, saying these daily attacks reflected the Kremlin’s unwillingness to end the war. The Kremlin has made far-reaching demands that Kiev says are unacceptable, slowing US President Donald Trump’s efforts to bring peace to the world.
“It’s important for everyone to see what Russia is doing right now, because the acts of terrorism, all the attacks that they carry out against our people, are clearly not about ending the war. They are still aiming to destroy our country and cause maximum suffering to our people.”
He also called on allies to continue increasing pressure on Russia to bring it to the negotiating table to “end the war they started.”
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said in a press briefing Thursday that President Trump is “very frustrated” by the lack of progress on peace with Ukraine. Kiev has been active in peace efforts and reiterated its readiness to end the fighting.
Meanwhile, two people were killed in a drone strike in the Saratov region in southwestern Russia, following a drone attack by Ukraine, the governor of the region, Roman Busargin, announced.
Busergin said the drone attack damaged residential buildings and blew out some windows at a kindergarten and clinic.
The Russian Ministry of Defense added that further Ukrainian attacks were recorded and thwarted early Sunday morning. The ministry announced that it had shot down 41 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory overnight, eliminating the threat from the air.
