Delivery robots are about to become regular sights on the streets of Zurich. More specifically, Robo-Delivery-Dogs is deployed to deliver fast food from a local restaurant called Zekis World.
This is a pilot program by the food delivery market Eat Takeaway.com Swiss robotics company Rivr is a collaborator.
The “robo dog” with wheels is equipped with physical AI that allows you to climb stairs, manipulate obstacles such as garbage cans and grass, and move around pedestrians, vehicles and cyclists.
Dogs can “walking” at speeds of about 15km/h and can withstand rain, snow, high temperatures and wind. All delivery is monitored in real time, and the robo delivery dog ββcan be controlled remotely.
Just Eat Takeaway.com said it was the first on-demand delivery service in Europe to pilot hybrid robotics with wheels equipped with physical AI.
Rivr intends to deploy robots in the future to bring in parcels, goods, groceries and fresh meals.
“We plan to introduce robots to other European cities later this year, with the potential to expand to retail and convenience stores,” the developer said in a statement.
