A quick guide to Reykjavik

Must read

As a gateway to Iceland’s adventurous terrain, Reykjavik has become a hot spot for travelers passing by to begin their journey in the island nation. After spending a few days here earlier this year, I noticed a slight amount of beauty in the Icelandic capital beneath the surface. If you’re looking to make the most of your time in town, here’s a quick guide in Reykjavik.

A guide to Reykjavik

The drive between the airport and the city takes about 45 minutes, with signs posted and posted all the way to the town centre. Routes can only be created with four wheels (no trains). Highly recommend if you are heading to another part of Iceland or planning a trip someday Hire a car Time in your country.

Or, if you’re planning on wandering around town just for a few days (this is very simple and condensed), Low-cost bus For 10 euros, it takes you to the heart of Reykjavik.

When it comes to downtown, there are several options Accommodation To my surprise, it wasn’t as crazy expensive as I’d read it everywhere (it wasn’t cheap, but by Australian standards it didn’t look like Melbourne or Sydney!).

One of the better options these days is to book an apartment or cabin Air BNBsome lovely lists will give you insight into Icelandic lifestyle and life.

Leave it a little late (ahem, here!) and there are plenty of hotels around downtown and the city’s edge, but a bit cheaper. I checked in Radisson Blue Room rates were very reasonably priced and breakfast was included in the area around the city. With vehicles, it was much easier to find a hotel with ample (and free) parking!

Best Boutiques and Shops in Reykjavik

Now that we’re downtown, get ready to pack plenty of pit stops, not only because there are great boutiques and concept stores to discover, but also because it’s useful for the cold!

crowd – A lovely small gift store with local artisan work. This is the perfect place to find new beanies and scarves to keep you warm for your Icelandic adventures!

12 tones – Storage with independent record labels and rock and roll focus. Everything I thought was everything about Icelandic music scene!

Also – Clothing store made with recycled fabric. Iceland is a very “green” country, and everyone you meet is a positive mindset with a focus on the environment.

Small Christmas shop – “Little Christmas Shop” is a Christmas shop all year round with so many cute trinkets to take home, and if you’re like me you’ll need a new suitcase to bring them home!

Best Vegan Eat Places in Reykjavik

Conscious Living is a big theme here in Iceland. So a healthy diet and a plant-based base will be easier than ever.

Gross – My favourite vegan eateries at Reykjavik were so good that I ended up venturing into a meal time and planning my adventures. They are most famous for their healthy bowls, but the “pull pork” (jackfruit) burger was my absolute favorite!

Coffee vinyl – If you’re looking for a work space to spend a few hours, there’s nothing wrong with this wrapping vegan cafe!

Cafe Babal – Make drool-worthy vegan carrot cakes and some other vegetable options on your menu!

Ours – The details of the fashionable side are Nostra if you’re looking for an impressive dinner date night. They have a wide range of vegan and vegetable-friendly options.

coffee -Look no more for one of the best barista coffees in town.

Best view: Hallgrimskirkja

Hallgrímskirkja Church is undoubtedly the best 360 views of Reykjavik from above. A visit to the top of the church costs you 1000 ISK, but it’s worth seeing the colorful rooftops of the capital from above. The church has free parking on the premises. This is a great place to leave your car while exploring on foot to explore the city.

Day Trip to Blue Lagoon

Of course, a trip to Reykjavik would not have been completed without visiting one of Iceland’s most popular destinations (and certainly one of the most photographs). Located about a 40-minute drive from town, this thermal spa has become the destination itself for visitors to Iceland.

It is important to note that popularity can result in several outcomes. So, this place is packed to visit, especially with the secret lagoon that is free, natural and loved by locals! )
