This was my second visit to Ireland and this time I decided to travel south. After attending a friend’s wedding for a few days at Cork, I drove to Wexford County for a sea experience.
Stay: Monato Spa
For my stay in Wexford, I also checked in at Monato Spa, known with affection. Monato. This Five Star Luxury Hotel has built its own reputation as one of Ireland’s best spa experiences. When I first visited Ireland four or five years ago, I hadn’t noticed that spa culture was so popular in Ireland. Spas are becoming increasingly popular and in demand, at least in Wexford and Kilkenny.
Monato is the type of place to check in and do not leave until you are kicked out of the door upon check-out. Everything you need is here. It’s a casual cafe for lunch, a bar for drinks before dinner, and a fine dining restaurant in the evening. The spa downstairs has a fully equipped gym. This also includes a seemingly endless maze of steam rooms, saunas, infrared rooms and swimming pools.
While checking in at Monato I found it difficult to leave. After dinner there was an evening and we had to force ourselves to roam the countryside after overly hiding on a plate of six flavored ice cream.
The Wexford countryside around Monat is calm and quiet. The area has many farms, open fields and small country roads.
Kayak in the sea cave
The moment I arrived at Wexford, I Sea Cave Kayak Adventure. It’s a Sunday afternoon, the sun is shining, and even in the summer months of Ireland, you can never take a clear skies for granted.
At Wexford coastal sites, you can’t miss out on the water. Even in summer, the water is quite cold and the jelly fish are intense, so if you’re looking for a unique adventure, a kayak ride is the best option. The tour was 3 hours long and was very easy (especially if you kayaked before), with 54.99 euros for one kayak and 99.99 euros for doubles.
Wexford details
For a few days in Wexford, I spent most of my time at Monart, enjoying the evidence, the spa and typical Irish hospitality that is difficult to stroll around. However, there is more to see at Wexford. If you’d like to see some highlights, we recommend:
