Europe Today: European leaders meet in Dubai to discuss trade, AI and geopolitics

Must read

Release date

European leaders and business representatives gathered in Dubai today for the world’s largest international gathering. Around 150 governments and 500 ministers gather there to consider how governments can adapt and innovate in a changing world.

Euronews’ EU News Editor-in-Chief Maria Taddeo also visited Dubai on this occasion. She was interviewed together with OECD Secretary-General Matthias Cormann.

Mario Draghi returned to Belgium and fired warning shots at EU leaders. Speaking at a ceremony at the University of Leuven yesterday, Italy’s former prime minister said EU countries should not be afraid to integrate at different speeds if that is necessary to gain influence on the world stage. Euronews correspondent Stefan Grove followed the speech on our behalf and explained it to us.

Then I will travel to France. After months of political deadlock, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecorne had to use constitutional provisions to force passage and managed to survive two no-confidence votes. If you would like to know more, we will be traveling to Paris to speak with French correspondent Sofia Hatskensova.

And finally, we’ll look at why gold’s value plummeted along with silver. Although prices have fallen, Europeans are still buying in large quantities. Jakub Janas reports.
