On Sunday, grain wagons from Russia were dispatched to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory, as the reopening of transport routes remains part of the normalization process between Baku and Yerevan.
A total of 25 grain wagons (weighing 1,746 tons) were sent from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijan.
To date, a total of 285 wagons have been transported, transporting approximately 19,900 tons of grain.
Several shipments of this kind have already taken place over the past few months. The first batch of grain to Armenia via Azerbaijan was sent in November last year, carrying Kazakhstani wheat.
The shipment of cargo is being carried out as part of a broader peace agenda. These shipments were made possible after restrictions on the passage of goods into Armenia that had been in place since the 1990s due to the conflict were lifted.
The decision was officially announced by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on October 21, 2025, after a meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana.
All cargo followed the same route. After passing through Georgia and Azerbaijan, the final destination is Daralik station in Armenia.
