8 things to do in Doha, Qatar

Must read

Qatar is a country that not many people think of visiting. It is primarily considered as a stopover, especially as Qatar Airways offers numerous connections around the world. If you decide to stop by Doha, there are several things to see and do. Here’s a selection of recommended activities in Doha.

1. Go running on sand dunes in the desert

Qatar has some amazing desert dunes that can be explored by jeep. When you book this trip, we’ll pick you up from your hotel and spend the entire morning running around the dunes. They will take you to the sea in Qatar. Here you can see Saudi Arabia across the sea. Duning through this desert is such an amazing and beautiful experience and I highly recommend it.

2. Visit a huge shopping mall.

There are many different shopping malls in Doha, but they may be different from what you are used to. These malls are incredibly large and include shopping, restaurants, small theme parks, movie theaters, grocery stores, and sometimes even an IKEA. Many locals visit these places as fun day trips. One of these malls (Villagio Mall) even looks like Venice, including canals with gondola rides. However, there are some days that are quite cold, so be careful with your air conditioner!

3. Go to one of the theme parks

Doha Festival City is Qatar’s largest shopping mall. There is a lot of shopping and leisure here, as in any theme park, but there is also a variety of theme parks. This shopping mall is home to fun theme parks such as Angry Birds World, Virtuosity, and Snow Dunes.

4. Visit Souq Waqif

After a day of playing around, you might want to head to Souq Waqif. This souk has indoor and outdoor areas where you can enjoy your evenings. You can also buy some nice souvenirs or have a snack at a restaurant. There is also live music in the evening. A great place to discover different cultures.

5. Enjoy Arabic cuisine

Speaking of snacks, the souk offers a wide range of options with a variety of cuisines. Qatar does not have its own kitchen that serves specialty cuisine and is heavily influenced by Arabic, Mediterranean and even Asian cuisine. If you have a sweet tooth, Chac’Late in Katara Cultural Village is a great place to order all kinds of delicious desserts.

6. Go to Katara Cultural Village

Qatar has embraced its culture and history and built a region to express it. This cultural village of Katara includes an opera house, an outdoor amphitheater, and a mosque. It is a place where festivals and concerts are held. It is close to the sea and there are many restaurants and cafes in the area.

7. See the night skyline from the water

Another great thing to do is visit “The Pearl”, an artificial island filled with trendy shops and restaurants. In the evening, we recommend taking a small boat tour around the harbor. You can clearly see the Doha skyline from the water, which is very beautiful.
