Hundreds of people attended a memorial service on Sunday in the Swiss Alpine resort of Crans-Montana to remember the victims of the New Year’s Eve fire at Le Constellation bar.
The service, held in the Saint-Christophe Chapel, was followed by a silent procession to the scene of the fire, where mourners placed flowers and candles at a temporary memorial.
Church leaders spoke of the fear and suffering faced by the families and friends of the victims.
The fire broke out just after midnight, killing 40 people and injuring 119, many of them young people.
