Ukraine used an indigenous naval drone to attack two Russian oil tankers in the Black Sea, a Ukrainian security official told The Associated Press on Saturday.
A video shared by the official showed a Navy drone speeding toward the large tanker, followed by a strong explosion that set the ship on fire.
The ships Kairos and Virat, said to be part of a “shadow fleet” to evade Russian sanctions, were attacked in quick succession off Turkey’s Black Sea coast, officials said.
Navy drones are unmanned high-speed boats loaded with explosives that sail toward a target before detonating.
