Known as a land of fire and ice, it’s not hard to see why Iceland has become one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. Featuring dramatic landscapes, volcanoes, hot springs and lava fields, a trip to Iceland is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Don’t miss out on 10 locations in Iceland.

1. Vic, Iceland
Vik, an isolated seaside village in Southern Iceland, is as dramatic and etheric as Iceland gets. Think of a coastal village, but expect something unexpected with black sandy beaches, rock formations offshore, and changing weather.

2. Fjordrgljúfur, Iceland
Don’t let your name threaten you. This canyon in southeastern Iceland is a must-see for first-time visitors to Iceland. This soon became one of the most recognised photo spots in the country, and may recognize the dramatic cliffs that make the path to wind the water below.

3. Diamond Beach
Located on Iceland’s popular coastline, this beach is a unique one. Diamond Beach. The beach is located in a small section of the Glacier Plains of Bray Amarkul Sandur, directly across from the Yokar Sarron Glacier Lagoon. It is here that icebergs are washed away on the coast and set the photos with dramatic background scenes.

4. Blue Lagoon
When you first think about Iceland, you probably think of the Blue Lagoon. This hot spring, just a short drive from the airport in Reykjavik, has become an Instagram-like feeling. Therefore, you should book a trip to the Blue Lagoon a few weeks before your visit. Blue Lagoon is busier than ever, so if you want to check out the fewer commercials, consider visiting your local favorites Reykjadalur Hot Springsa free alternative to Blue Lagoon.

5. Sun sand
When I traveled to Iceland last year, I began planning my trip just a few days later. Given the preferred airfares for Wawaair, I chose to visit Iceland as a stopover between Barcelona and New York City. I soon came across a picture of the plane’s wreckage sandIt is now a must-see visit on many travellers’ itineraries. The plane’s wreckage is very popular and you will need to approach the highway and walk to the wreckage to avoid erosion of the road leading to the beach (a few hours return depending on how fast you walk). If you are starting a walk during the day, be sure to pack a head torch. Once the sun has set, you will need to return to the parking lot in the pure white darkness. The trails are very exposed, so if you’re visiting outside of summer, pack it perfectly for all weather conditions as Iceland is known for its sharp temperament! If you are trying to reach from the location of the beaten pass, hiring a car is a must!

6. Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland
I have wanted to visit Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. At the time, I was obsessed with folk singers and Iceland’s National Bjork (we were all us?)
Reykjavik has changed dramatically in recent years, but it is still possible to find the magic of that small town. In other words, if you know the right way! Knowing the right street means you can discover the best coffee shops. And when you know the best coffee shops, you too will find the best food.
Allows you to explore the capital of Iceland for two days. From Reykjavik, you can enjoy the highlights of Golden Sils in just one day. This will be a great day trip from Reykjavik.

7. Seljalandsfoss in Iceland
A graceful waterfall on Iceland’s southeast coast, Seljalandsfoss is an easy pit stop. It is located just off the road leading to Route 1 and þórsmörk Road 249.

8. Iceland, Kirkjufellsfoss
The waterfall and Iceland go hand in hand. Your next pit stop should be waterfallor “Church Mountain Waterfalls” is also known. Despite its remote location, the waterfall is considered one of the most photographed in the country. It’s a short drive near town Grundarfjörður.

9. Garfos Falls
I know, another waterfall! Iceland is full of them, but each of the listed waterfalls is unique. I promise you, the magic will not disappear! Gullfoss is located in Iceland’s Golden Circle and can be reached in just under two hours by car from Reykjavik.

10. Enjoy the drive
If you’ve seen the Waltermity movie, you’ve probably got the same vibe from this photo! Icelandic magic is often not in the destination itself, but in the journey to them. The most exciting thing about a trip to Iceland is how fast and frequently the weather changes. One moment is overcome by a snowstorm, and the next is greeted by a blue sky.
