Belgium is full of hidden gems, and Antwerp is no exception. This is the second largest city in Belgium and is generally Cool capital. It has a much more curated atmosphere than the capital (Brussels) and focuses on art and fashion. Although the winters in Antwerp are cold, there are great benefits to visiting the offseason. We were lucky enough to experience Antwerp this winter. The biggest part of our visit: no crowds!

Things to do in Antwerp in the winter
The city of Antwerp, like other parts of Europe, is busy until a few summer months. In winter, the days get shorter. This means you can indulge in sleep and make the most of your cozy hotel in the city. We checked in at De Witte Reli in Antwerp.

Your first calling port is: Antwerp main station. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful train stations in all of Europe. So, even if you don’t plan a stop for Antwerp itself, we recommend you stop here just to see the station. The Belle Epoque style is truly fascinating and the details are second to none.

Antwerp Bell
Antwerp Bell (also known as Denbel) is worth climbing, especially if you’re a little more active but still looking for something indoors.

Check out one of Antwerp’s independent bookstores
Another favorite thing to do in Antwerp’s cold month is to visit one of the many independent bookstores. This city feels like a living history itself, but once you step into one of these bookstores, this becomes even more common.
Demian’s Book
The bookstore is located in a 14th century building on Hendrick Square of Conscience. The store is full of second-hand books and is one of the best main stores to visit Antwerp for 20 years.
Copyright
If you’re like me and love a bookstore that’s as aesthetically pleasing as the collection it holds, head straight out of copyright. There are plenty of coffee table books to read, many of which are concentrated in art, design and fashion.

Fashion Museum Mama
One of my favorite reasons to visit Antwerp is how fashion represents a part of Antwerp’s history. Fashion Museum my (Mode Museum) is a great expression of this and is definitely worth a visit to get away from the cold.

Stay: White Lily
We stayed in the beautiful thing for our escape to Antwerp this winter White lily Hotel. This hotel is a somewhat secretive, design lover’s paradise. The quirky combination of textures and colors makes it one of my favorite design hotels in Western Europe.
