Snips from Russian drones were found washed away on Latvian coasts, but fragments of missiles that were probably used to shoot down the drone were found in Poland, authorities from both countries said.

This information appeared for more than a week while 19-23 drones were violating Polish airspace overnight after it was released from Russia.

The tail portion of the Gerbera drone was found near a village in the western village.

Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprud cited the military and said there were no explosive material on the wreckage.

Designed as a decoid drone that overwhelms Ukraine’s air defense, the gerbera is made of foam and plywood and has a flight range of up to 600 km.

The Gerbera drone is believed to have been used in violation of Polish airspace.

Latvian Prime Minister Ebika Silina has directed the Ministry of Defense and Interior to coordinate with Warsaw to establish whether the drone is one of the ones detected last week.

“Our priorities have been to strengthen our eastern borders, but it is clear that protecting the Baltic coast by installing the necessary sensors is equally important,” Silina wrote in X’s post.

Polish military police said Thursday that fragments of missiles from weapons used to shoot down the drone were found at Choin, about 70 kilometres from the Ukrainian border.

Police did not provide information about the damage or victims, but said a forensic investigation was ongoing.

Chony is located in the eastern Lublin province, adjacent to Ukraine, where the majority of Russian drones that plunged into Polish airspace were discovered.

Warsaw said that Polish and Allied aircraft fired down at least three Russian drones during the invasion.

No victims have been reported, but a home in County Lublin has been damaged.

Following the violation of Polish airspace, NATO Director General Mark Latte announced the creation of the Eastern Sentry Programme, which aims to prevent further Russia’s invasion and demonstrate solidarity with Poland.

“We see drones violating the airspace. Whether intentional or not, it is not acceptable. Allies are fully expressing solidarity with Poland. It is important to counter the aggression and defend all members of the alliance,” said the NATO chief.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Romania denounced what was called “irresponsible actions” in Moscow after it was said that Russian drones had entered airspace during an air attack on Ukraine.
