Several hotels around the world are really taking my breath (until I fail miserably to find the words to start this blog post), and Pangkor Sea Resort It’s one of them in Malaysia. Located on a privately owned island on the west coast of Malaysia, the resort is a secret hidden in an enviable honeymoon location for those who had the pleasure of staying here, and for those who dream of their future dreams. For me, despite being here by myself, it was an absolute paradise, so I am truly looking forward to sharing my experiences with you!
Pangkor Sea Resort
Reaching the Pangkor Raut Resort is in itself a considerable journey, especially if you are from outside of Malaysia. So, I highly recommend a 2-3 night stay in Kuala Lumpur after going out for a 3-4 hour drive (depends on traffic) to reach the pier and then a 2-3 night stay before proceeding towards Pangkor Raut.
But all the long journeys are part of my experience at Pangkor Laut. The island’s wildlife is incredible – especially for birdwatching. The food is equally incredible (read my favourite restaurant on the island) and the staff will be out of the way to make your stay unforgettable!
Check-in: Spa Villa
Depending on your budget and the opportunity to visit, there are several different rooms categories available.
For honeymooners, it’s less flashy than the spa suite, which is farthest from the resort. The spa villa is above the water, but the sea villa is above the water, at a slightly lower room rate, but does not include spa facilities (more private pools, free yoga classes, and coveted locations on the island).
For those who want to enjoy the location, resort facilities, and those who are not so troubled by the novelty of sleeping on the sea on the floor for the night, you can choose either “Hill Villa” or “Garden Villa”.
Then if you feel Really flashyAlong with private drivers, butlers and even chefs for your stay, we’re talking a bit about parts of the island available to families/groups looking for full privacy from the resort.
I checked in to the spa villa myself, and it was a luxury that went beyond words. The rooms are very well appointed (no TV, no Hallelujah!), and have great views with more windows than all walls. The private pool area at the spa was also not crowded (in fact, I usually swim solo).
Food: Don’t miss Uncle Rim!
When it comes to food at this resort, I can’t fully express how much I like the “Uncle Rim” restaurant! This was the resort’s first restaurant, and the chef himself (yes, his name is Uncle Rim) was the first employee at the resort and is in the kitchen to this day.
The restaurant serves Chinese and Malay cuisine blends, offering heartfelt Chinese cuisine, but with a rich flavor of Malay cuisine.
During my time at the resort I ate at Fisherman’s Cove (and straight and private dining at Emerald Cove), which is considered one of the best dining experiences at the resort, but honestly, I said that the best meal here was still back in my uncle’s rim (stop the dining experience last night and I came back last night).
Local markets and cooking classes
At the resort, we pledged to try as many activities as possible (using a spa villa makes it incredibly attractive if you don’t want to leave your room!) One such activity is called the chef’s experience, and it becomes a place where one of the resort chefs participates and visits the local village and market (by speed boat) and leads to the resort.
After that, we return to the resort and cook the storm with the chef. The result was a luxurious three-course meal that was kindly brought to my room during lunch time and as a boy. I made vegetarian soup, vegetarian andal curry and sauteed coconut okra.
Around the resort
For a few nights staying at Pangkor Raut Resort, I tried out a complimentary yoga class, visited the resort pool and of course headed to the designated beach area for a privately located swimming on the other side of the island (you can walk through the jungle and see the comprehensive shuttle service).
Also, now that I’ve been in the heat of Malaysia over a week, my skin was screaming for a bit of rejuvenation, what really stood out for me was making time to visit Spa Village for a signature treatment!
Overall I had a really great stay here so I can see why people travel so long to get here to this little slice of paradise. Plus, they’re much more affordable than elsewhere in Asia (rates vary throughout the year).
Thank you for YTL Hotel He invited me to experience Pangkor Laut Resort. As always, my opinion is myself!
