Beyond Bali: Seven Places in Indonesia

Must read

On my recent visit to Indonesia, I decided to reveal the beauty of nature beyond Bali. I will first acknowledge how much I worship Bali paradise, but I am also a small crowd fan (they are no longer holding hands). Therefore, this trip was to find a lesser known destination within Indonesia. The idea was to stay close to Bali (board boats and planes) to feel a world away from the hustle and bustle.

Best Places in Indonesia

Beach

That can be said Nusa Penida It’s the new Bali. Find Kering Beach here. Certainly, it is much smaller and underdeveloped, but the dramatic cliffside beach places this place on the map. It is becoming increasingly popular so it is recommended to visit earlier than later. This is one of the coolest places in Indonesia.

Pink Beach Indonesia | World of Wonderlast

Pink beach

Imagine the beach being transparent. You can see the smallest fish under you, but you don’t dodge the corals as your feet blend in with silky sand. When we arrived we were very surprised to find that no one else was enjoying the pink beach. Despite being one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve visited around the world, Pink Beach was quiet, surreal and calm. This only got better when I boarded a boat and returned to the mainland and saw the sun burn the sky in bright orange, pink and purple shades.

Padal Island

When I was studying this trip to Indonesia, I was looking at pictures of Padal Island and wanted to see this view for myself soon. You’ll pinch yourself because Padal Island feels so surreal, as if it were coming from a Jurassic Park movie. Of course, if you make time to visit nearby Komodo National Park and see the famous dragons, you will truly feel prehistoric. The best way to explore an area is: Join a cruise at Komodo National Park To see all the islands around.

Mount Bromo

Imagine saying you can visit and walk around Crater Rim, Indonesia’s most impressive active volcano. you can. Mount Bromo It’s not the first destination for international travelers, but it should be among the top three. It’s a great mission to reach Bromo, including a wake-up call at 12am and a five-hour drive. However, once you get there, the sunrise view is simply breathtaking and becomes one of the most incredible places in Indonesia.

Lombok's Guide | World of Wonderlast

Lombok

Lombok is one of the most underrated places in Indonesia. I had heard from friends of many travellers that Lombok was Bali’s secret cousin and knew I had to visit with my own eyes. Lombok isn’t as good as I thought it would be, but the possibilities are definitely there. Because the island is Muslim (as opposed to the Hindus in Bali), the party scene is much more tame and is confined to resort areas on the western side. I’d like to come back in a few years and see what continues to come to fruition in Lombok.

Komodo National Park

If you love wildlife and believe that the strange one is better, you must visit Komodo National Park. I love seeing indigenous wildlife in their natural habitats and have to admit that I didn’t expect it to include the Komodo Dragon. These oversized lizards are extremely dangerous, so be sure to keep your distance!

Wakatobi

If there is one destination on this list, I know you’ve never heard of it, it’s Wakatobi. This beautiful, secluded island in East Java is so underdeveloped that it will find it difficult to meet other Westerners. But if it’s a local immersion, if you want, Wakatobi is where you’ll find it. Even better, here are some of the best diving Indonesia has to offer. It’s incredibly cheap as the destination doesn’t have many tourist visitors yet.
