It’s not every day that you can say you’ve checked in at a Chateau in Paris. In fact, “the only Chateau in Paris” is the catchphrase of St. James Paris, one of Paris’s most famous and newly opened hotels.
Located in the heart of the 16th Allendies, St. James Paris is the perfect oasis you’ve been looking for. A short walk from Eiffel Tower and approach Ark de Triomphe, this luxurious hotel is idyllic for those looking to explore Paris for the first time. Read the full review of my stay!

Saint James, the only chateau in Paris
After a major renovation, St. James Paris finally opened its doors again. I’m jealous of the hotel location on the 16th, considering that it’s mostly residential and can feel like a local in the heart of Paris. Still, you are a short walk from the two main monuments in Paris.
When I approached the Uber hotel, I already had the overwhelming sense that this would be a very special stay. The tall iron gates and imposing stonework made me realize before I could enter.
I walked into the lobby and felt like I was going home. It’s amazing considering the grandeur of the lobby and its impressive stairs (no ending!), but the staff were always friendly and made me feel at home.

St. James’s third floor room is special. This renovation, on the top floor of the hotel, has enabled a clever way to maximize the light (this can be very difficult on harsh, dark days in winter). So the renovation team came up with an innovative idea to create a “winter garden” within the suite on the top floor. Given that these suites have no other light (for example, from the balconies and large windows overlooking the street), the sky-lit winter gardens brought more light to these rooms and were a great way to create a real treat on a sunny day.

Inside the suite
Once you’ve got a stock of natural light to stream streaming through the window, walk to your bedroom and you’ll be amazed at the size of the St. James Paris room. The hotel was originally a boarding school and has been renovated many times since then, but now it has become one of the most luxurious hotels in all of Paris. And since hotels in Paris are famous for being small and porky, it is certainly true that each room size must be a draw card. But the room is huge and charming, with small windows in your bathroom (believe me if I say I’m small!)

The bathrooms have everything you’ll come to expect from a luxurious 5-star venue, including bath unmenities at Guerlain Paris. There is a shower and separate toilet, but sometimes there is no bath in my room. I spent most of my time and planned to explore Paris, so that wasn’t really a concern! However, if you are unsure about the bath, please check with the staff when making a reservation.
One of the most amazing surprises of my stay was the turndown service, where two Angelina chocolates magically appeared next to the bed. This feels great to highlight the hotel’s local specialty. Angelina Paris It’s on the hit list of most travelers when visiting Paris (if you haven’t already, you should!)

Around the hotel
The hotel is open only to guests until the evening when fine dining and bars are open to outside guests. This means the hotel is pretty quiet throughout the morning and the day. So, if the weather gets bad, there are plenty of excuses to stay a little longer at the hotel before venturing out in a day. There is also a glorious indoor heated pool under the hotel, and Guerlampas if you need treatment.

Place in Paris
This hotel location is perfect for first-time visitors to Paris, especially those planning to visit Eiffel Tower and Ark de Triomphe (don’t miss it for the first time in Paris!). Swamp and Saint-Germain. The 16th arrondissement is famous for being a wealthy suburb, but was surprised by the amount of quaintly priced restaurants and bistros just a few minutes away. Port Dauphine is the nearest metro station on several floors outside the hotel.

Book your stay
This hotel is newly opened and offers great room rate specials. Currently, rooms cost from 570 euros per room and 570 euros per night. Breakfast is an extra, but I highly recommend sprasing as it is a full a la carte event consisting of breakfast pastries, juice, coffee, tea, pre-cooked egg dishes and yogurt.
