I get heated right after my last visit to Amsterdam and I would lie if I said I had not already missed it. Especially in winter, Amsterdam has an attraction that other big cities don’t own. A slow morning begins, bringing a truly cozy atmosphere to the warm, sparkling streets of Jordan and the city. On a recent visit to Amsterdam, I set out looking for the best concept stores, design stores and small pastry shops to edit my current list of favorites. There are 12 best shops to visit in Amsterdam!
Bookstore
Now we’ll start with a handpicked selection of three best bookstores in Amsterdam. All of these House English books (my native language), and a really great selection of old and new, as well as coffee table books, can be difficult to source.
American Book Center
Located in the heart of town, this is one of the most frequent bookstores by English speakers. Amsterdam has a large expat community, so locals and tourists are always busy. The choice is great and the prices are fair.
Address: SPUI 12, 1012 XA Amsterdam, Netherlands
Used English books
I’m an avid reader and still prefer physical books (over Kindles’ kind of thing), so if possible, I always choose to buy second-hand books or borrow them from a friend. This helps reduce the impact on your environment, hey, it’s cheap! This is the perfect bookstore to win bargains.
Address: Kloveniersburgwal 58, 1012 cx Amsterdam, Netherlands
think
This bookstore is perfect for artistic people and creatives. I’ve found so many topics. I was only interested in aesthetics, and if I had a larger suitcase I would have remained in the right corner of the store.
Address: Bellenstrad 11, 1016 GG Amsterdam, Netherlands

Concept Store
This is a topic I wanted to dig deeper into this trip to Amsterdam, and the boy came up with some merchandise! This is my favorite concept store in Amsterdam:
stew
This is one of Amsterdam’s OG concept stores and one of the biggest stores in terms of choice. They house many local and Scandinavian designers, so there is a large collection between fashion, books, household items and more.
Address: Van Woustraat 4, 1073 LL Amsterdam, Netherlands
others
I found this shop during our study of our trip and it’s a bit out of the way (about 20 minutes walk), but it’s totally worth it if you ask me. The store is filled with books and books that are mostly stationary, with some random trinkets closing your choice. I left a book about Monocle.
Address: De Clercqstraat 130, 1052 NP Amsterdam, Netherlands
morning
This is one of Amsterdam’s most famous concept stores, and if you’re looking for a one-stop shop, look no further. They have a huge selection and many of the options are really affordable.
Address: Utrechtestraat 120, 1017 Vt Amsterdam, Netherlands

Clothing store
If you come to Amsterdam without many outfit choices, we can guarantee you will be full of bags. I’ve been living in Cape Town for the past few months and have only summer clothes, so this is exactly what I did! Below are some of my favorite options for residential local designer clothing stores in Amsterdam.
We are labels
Our label has one of the largest collections of local designers, and we couldn’t leave empty-handed as winter sales are in full swing during our visit. There are several shops in town so you’ll be stumbling while exploring!
Address: Raadhuisstraat 46-50, 1016 dg Amsterdam, Netherlands
Episode Vintage
One thing is certain when visiting Amsterdam. Pick up for your choice at a vintage thrift store! The episode is one of the most known shops, thanks to its location within the nine streets. They have always made huge choices, but make sure to bring your patience, there are plenty of sieves to go through those racks!
Address: Bellenstrad 1, 1016 GG Amsterdam, Netherlands
Boutique anecdote
If you’re more on the side of women, the anecdote has a truly amazing selection of girly clothes and accessories.
Address: Wolvenstraat 15, 1016 Em Amsterdam, Netherlands

The cafe will be stopped
With all that shopping, you’ll need to come and pick me up in the afternoon. These are great little cafes to stop by for a sweet treat of caffeine and quick fix:
choose
On the nine streets, stop by Pluk, one of the cutest cafes in town! They have a huge selection of baked goods to choose from, and the space is truly cozy and attractive.
Address: Reestraat 19, 1016 DM Amsterdam, Netherlands
Heart East
Stop by Hartje ooost for your natural light and fab interior lover (of my companions). If you’re in a hurry, they make an average espresso!
Address: Javastraat 23, 1094 km Amsterdam, Netherlands
Back to black
This is the perfect place to finish your day and finish with a high note. Order your Apple Pie (and thank you later).
Address: WeteringStrat 48, 1017 SP Amsterdam, Netherlands
