Must read

For years I have dreamed of a white Christmas Europe And finally, this year I headed to Central Europe to do just that. On my second day in Prague, I opened my window to snow, but not just a small portion of the snow, snowflakes came out of the sky and fell on my hands.

Below, I’ve written a complete list of the 10 best things to do for Christmas in Prague.

Updated in October 2021.

10 Best Things to Do for Christmas in Prague

1. Christmas market in the Old Town Square

The December Christmas Market and Europe go hand in hand, so wear comfortable shoes and get ready to hit the ground running in Prague. If you are looking for the most scenic Christmas market and prefer to just visit, make sure you don’t miss a visit to the Christmas market in Old Town Square Old Town Tower For a view from above!

2. Try Trdelník

It includes almost all the responses when I made a call out on Instagram Stories and checked out Czech food that I couldn’t miss for Christmas Trdelník. This popular Czech dessert is a hollow pastry dough covered in cinnamon sugar and is now topped with soft serve ice cream. You can find a whirlwind combination of flavours at Good Food Coffee and Bakery at 8 Karlova (the main street that connects Charles Bridge with Old Town Square).

3. Walk along the vltava river at night

They argue that Prague on December nights is the only thing more magical than Prague in December. Because the combination of Christmas lights and the normal glow of the city illuminates the entire city with an amber glow! You can take a walk from Dancing House in Prague to Charles Bridge for magical views like those photographed on the evening walk above.

4. Climb to the top of the old town tower

The view from the Old Town Tower is one of the best ways to see the city from above at any time of the year, but it is especially beautiful at Christmas as you can see the events from the Christmas Market and Bird Eye View. The ticket price is around 9 euros and if you don’t feel like an exercise, you have the option to move the lift to the top.

5. See the swans on the Vltava River

When heading from the Old Town Square to the Castle and Castle Hill, stop by visiting the Swans when you are on the castle side of the Vltava River. These beautiful creatures are very friendly to humans. Provide plenty of space!

6. Climb to the top of Charles Bridge Tower

You can enjoy another great view at the top of Charles Bridge Tower, but I learned from the experience not to leave it late (the sun sets a little earlier than 4pm during December!)

While flying around town from Christmas markets to Christmas markets, make sure you indulge in all the food and wine you have at your disposal. Svalzak employs British contemplated wines or German Grovein, but has a stronger lemon and citrus flavour to balance the sugar.

9. Enjoy hot chocolate from Cafe Slavia

It was my first visit to Prague when I first discovered Cafe Slavia. I was looking for the best hot chocolates in Prague and after asking the locals I found my way to this institution. The cafe itself is a flashback to a bygone era. It’s the kind of place where you can pull up your chair and see the world pass by. And hot chocolate? Well, I’ve only returned to just a factor since, but it still tastes equally delicious every time!

10. Check out VRTBA Garden from Hotel Aria

The VRTBA Garden is one of my favorite secrets in Prague, but is generally closed in the winter. The only way to see them from October to April is one of my favourite hotels in Prague and one of the garden facing rooms at Hotel Aria, which is what feels like a home away from home.
