10 best places to visit in Montenegro

Must read

Montenegro is a country that I have always wanted to visit at least once. I have always been drawn to the lush mountains, beautiful beaches of the South, and warm hospitality. But for some reason it took much longer than expected to finally travel to Montenegro. If you are also considering this Balkan country, we have listed the 10 best places in Montenegro to help you plan your stay.

This year, I was invited to speak at a conference for entrepreneurs, and I made a decision. I was planning to stay for three days for a conference and spend another two weeks exploring Montenegro. I visited in late May or early June, and the weather was unseasonably bad, raining and raining a lot. However, we enjoyed a few days of sunny skies and were able to discover much of the southern coast and parts of northern Montenegro towards the end of our trip. These are the must-visit places in Montenegro!

2. Kotor

It is located in a bay below the Lovcen Mountains. Kotorthe crown jewel of Montenegrin tourism, has quickly become a must-see destination due to the influx of cruise ships that dock here during the summer months. The trick to visiting Kotor is to stay in the town itself, take regular day trips, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the town once the cruise ships depart for the day and the city streets are quiet and inviting. Be sure to hike the Kotor Fortress Trail for spectacular views of the city. A free alternative to the heavily populated Castello San Giovanni Trail. This also costs 8 euros (visiting the castle is still possible for free, just turn on the Kotor Fortress Trail).
